Excel Advanced Package Command | In this article, we will be discussing the introduction to "Excel Advanced Package Command". So what exactly new features does this command have which is being provided by the Automation Anywhere.
In the latest Edition of Automation Anywhere A2019 we have been provided with two Excel packages i.e. one is Excel Advanced package and the other is Excel Basic package.
Today in this article we will be discussing about the Excel Advanced package.
So now we first discuss what is Excel Advanced Package.
The Excel Advanced Package contains actions that enables us to automate many of the repetitive tasks when we are working with the Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. So if we need to use this Excel Advanced Package command then we need to have the Excel Advanced Package installed otherwise we need to install this package to use the Excel Advanced command.
Note:- We need to have Microsoft Office installed on our system to use this command i.e. the Excel Advanced Package command.
So now let's see the requirements that we need to have to use the Excel Advanced Package command are as follows:-
- Microsoft Office needs to be installed on the system.
- Office versions which are supported are from Microsoft Office version 2016 till Microsoft Office Version 2019.
- The file format which are supported by this command are .xls, .xlsx, .xlsb and .xlsm formats.
- Excel Advanced Package needs to be installed otherwise we need to install the package in order to use this command.
Through "Excel Advanced command" various operations can be performed on CSV files as well. The actions or operations which we can perform and not perform on CSV files are as listed below.
First let us see the operations that can be performed on CSV files are as follows:-
- Open
- Set Cell
- Go to cell
- Insert/Delete row column
- Get cell
- Find/Replace
- Convert excel to pdf
- Delete cells
- Set cell formula
- Create workbook
Now we will see the actions which are not supported by CSV files under the Excel Advanced package are as follows:-
- Find next empty cell
- Get cell color
- Go to next empty cells
- Run macro
- Unhide all worksheets
- Hide row/column in selection
- Unhide row/column in selection
- Access password protected worksheet
- Protect/Unprotect workbook
- Table related commands
- Create worksheet
We can also use loop action to retrieve data from each row in a CSV file. We can also use any of the above actions that supports the use of csv files within a loop action.
All other actions that are available in the Excel Advanced package that are not listed above cannot be used with a csv file.
We can automate tasks related to Workbook, Worksheet, rows, columns and cell operations. We can use these actions when we have Microsoft Excel installed on the device that we want to use to automate the Microsoft Excel related tasks which we will discuss further in our upcoming articles or blogs.
